Things to do

There’s so much to see and do in Scotland. Here are just a few suggestions.
Go Walking – Scotland is a country made for walking from arduous routes along mountain ridges to gentler forest trails and footpaths that link villages with friendly tearooms and pubs.
Visit A Castle – You can clamber over thousands of old ruins in spectacular locations, or wander through the sumptuous rooms of great historic houses that are still home to Lords and Ladies.
Try Monster Spotting – Of course, Nessie is our best known and most loved monster who was first spotted over 1,500 years ago, but you could also look for Morag, Sheila and Eckie amongst others.
Sample a Whisky – There’s literally thousands of different whiskies. You can sample some of the best known ones on a distillery tour where you can discover how our national drink is made.
Get Adventurous – Scotland is a country made for adventure be it abseiling, white water rafting, river bugging, canyoning or even sphere-ing (look it up in a search engine!). It’s what our great outdoors are there for.
Enjoy a Folk Music Session – Scotland has a lively and vibrant folk music tradition. You’ll
often stumble across spontaneous music sessions in pubs and village halls and don’t miss any opportunity to try Scottish country dancing in a ceilidh.
Spot the Wildlife – From the rare sea eagles of the west coast islands to the dolphins and porpoises of the Moray Firth and the mighty red deer of the high mountains, Scotland’s wildlife is ever bit as spectacular as anything you’ll find in Africa.
Simply Relax and Unwind – Holidays are all about finding the time to do the things you don’t normally have time to do. Like lying back on a warm afternoon on a campsite with the sea lapping your feet or enjoying a great meal with good friends and family. In Scotland you’ll find plenty of time and space for yourself.
